The New (Ab)Normal

CDC The New (Ab)normal

The portion size now is more than FOUR TIMES what it was in the 50's... and while that has grown... so has our population... and I'm not talking about demographics so much as the numbers on the scale and inches around the middle.  Time for a change.  Stop by the club to chat about a nutrition plan that will work for YOU.  After all, if you eat like everyone else, you will most certainly end up looking like everyone else.

HBO Weight of the Nation Clip 7: Are All Calories Created Equal?

It is great to be aware of the calorie-content of your food, but don't make calories your primary focus in weight loss.  While portion control is important (KNOW YOUR SERVING SIZES), your focus should be on fueling your body with the things that it NEEDS to function.  Skip the saturated fats; stick with the unsaturated guys.  Try to get enough protein, and always, always, always eat lots of vegetables and fruits!!

Calling Team Snap: Iron Horse Half/10K/5K Sunday, June 3, 2012

So listen, it's time for TEAM SNAP to step up to the plate and hit this one out of the park.  I'm willing to do the 5K, and could possibly be persuaded to run the 10K.  Carly is in, and I'm looking for some more people to join us.  Let us know, we'll be happy to have you!  We can certainly get some longer runs in these next few weeks together to help prepare for it as well!  LET US KNOW!

HBO Weight of the Nation- Clip #4: Obesity Puts You at Risk For Variety of Illnesses

Comorbidities to obesity include hypertension, cancer, arteriosclerosis, Type II Diabetes, and many other ailments which are PREVENTABLE!!!  Learn the best ways to prevent them, and find healthy ways to fit activity into your life DAILY.  A great way to start is by monitoring your activity with a pedometer (or our easyFIT accelerometer, only $49!); after a week you find our your average daily activity, and then you begin to set goals for "X" number of steps or points a day.  You can slowly build yourself up to specific activities like jogging, biking, or swimming.  You'll be amazed at not only the amount of weight (and inches!)you lose, but how GREAT you feel after some moderate to high intensity work outs!!  Check in with us if you have questions about pedometers, easyFIT, activities, or ANYTHING else.  We'll be happy to help!
