**IMPORTANT CLUB NEWS FROM MICHELE**

Hello Snap Avon!

Fall is the season of change and with that in mind there are a lot of changes going on at Snap!

First -- we are changing the group class schedule for the fall/winter months as follows:

1. Effective immediately both Monday 6pm evening boot camp and Saturday morning 10:30am boot camp will be Cardio Bootcamp classes with an emphasis on conditioning rather than a focus on strictly weights. This class will be taught by Ben Rocher, who is going to guest instruct for the next two weeks!   Should you all love the class, and he love teaching it at Snap, we will continue with the new schedule - so your feedback is very important :)

2. Also effective immediately - and by popular demand - both Wednesday 5pm yoga class and Saturday 11:30am yoga class will BOTH now be ABS AND CORE classes.

Second..............just like with your workouts:  Even if you enjoy doing what you are doing, changing things up is important for forward progression as long as you have a strong core.  And with a power team at Snap consisting of: long time Director of Personal Training, Brian Szmigiel, Elite Personal Trainer Robert Smith, and myself, we ARE your strong core and aren't going anywhere.

We are, however, sad to say that as of next Friday, October 25th, Snap's "Sweetheart" and club manager, Jessica Bergen, will no longer be with us.  Jessica has been offered a position as a field hockey program director at Stick Time Sports in Agawam Massachusetts; and as you all know field hockey is Jessica's passion so she simply cannot pass this opportunity up.  She will be dearly missed so join me in wishing her well by signing the cards that I will have on display at the front entrance of the club.

I am actively interviewing for the position and won't choose "just anyone" -- our new club manager has some serious shoes to fill!

Lastly -- I'd like to welcome all the new members that have joined us at Snap so far this fall.  I have a lot of plans at the club including the launch of round 2 of the Grocery List at ShopRite supermarket ....so stay tuned for further updates :)

............but please remember to rack your weights and clean up after yourselves.  Snap isn't just a gym............it's PERSONAL. :)

Have a great week everyone....and remember....We're always listening :)

Weekly Club News From Michele - September 17, 2013

Hello Snap Avon!

This past Saturday was the first club member appreciation party/open house BBQ and it was great to see so many of you have such a great time!  Special thank you to Tracy Lachmann for the free massages, Anthony Cannavo Jr. for the free injury assessments, Ali Welcome for face painting, Denise for the free Zumba class, Robert Smith for guest instructing the awesome bootcamp class, JarBear Carvings for the chainsaw carving of our club mascot, and The Biker's Edge for being on site for all our outdoor biking needs. I plan to make this an annual event for all of you.  I appreciate your membership and that so many of you take pride in the club not being JUST a club.  GO US GO!

There are quite a bit of exciting announcements so let's get started:

1.  Please join me in welcoming Robert Smith Jr. to the elite personal training staff at the club! Robert is bilingual and most recently was the Assistant Director of personal training at LA Fitness in Springfield, MA.  Robert has extensive knowledge of various different training methods and is a sports nutrition specialist as well so he will fit right into the atmosphere here.  Looking for someone to give you that extra push?  Robert is available for those in-demand morning personal training slots so contact the club today if you would like a FREE ASSESSMENT with him.  Robert will also be taking on the Wednesday and Friday 6am boot camp classes so if you haven't tried class yet, now is a great time to drop in.  Remember only $15/month for unlimited class attendance!

2.  Snap Avon staff and some of our members will be PERFORMING on stage this Saturday the 21st at the Avon Day event!  Look out for us at 4pm on the main stage and cheer us on!  Be sure to drop by our booth and bring your friends/family that might be interested in a membership.

3. If you haven't seen the cards in the club yet, the Michele ApprovedTM collaboration with Aloha tanning has officially launched!  I'm expanding my promotion of all things healthy to not just nutrition but healthy LIFESTYLE options as well.  Try out their organic, paraban free spray tans for your next event/wedding/night out instead of dangerous UV lights.  I use them for appearances, photo shoots, and especially as a base under my competition tan for stage.  They are awesome and have a special deal for Snap members so grab a promo card the next time you are in the club.

4. THIS THURSDAY IS THE MONTHLY ISAGENIX PARTY AT 6:30-7:30PM.  By popular demand Mike Russo will once again be hosting the event for all those who have questions about what the heck we are all talking about.....and why so many of us love how we FEEL and love how our bodies are changing too.  Come listen to what it's all about :)

5. I've hired a new cleaning staff that will be coming to the club late in the evening (like 10pm ish) every Monday so please plan accordingly.  Please be sure to be courteous and help us keep the club clean by racking your weights, and taking your personal items from the shower rooms at all times (gross!).  And on rainy days....bring a change of shoes.

6. The fall season for all physique competitions (bodybuilding, fitness, figure, bikini, fit body, male physique/model) has begun and I am once again hosting stage posing and presentation clinics every Sunday from 11-1pm at the club.  These clinics are the only one of their kind in the whole state so if you have ever heard of someone "who competes" feel free to share that your club hosts clinics.  Please plan accordingly because we will be occupying the floor space during this time.

All for this week - again, come see us Saturday at Avon Day on stage at 4pm! GO SNAP AVON GO!

...and remember...I'm always listening :)

IMPORTANT CHANGES AND WEEKLY CLUB NEWS!!

Hellooooo Snap Avon!

It's a BEAUTIFUL Tuesday outside and I hope you are enjoying every minute of it!  I sure am! I spent hours this afternoon distributing flyers around town about our fantastic FREE Silver Sneakers program we have going on at the club...so I got to enjoy a bit of sun myself.  HOWEVER...we ALL still need the strength training so I hope to see you power up some weight this week in the gym :)

Now for this week's updates:

1. ***CHANGE IN WEDNESDAY'S YOGA CLASS TIME*** Yoga with Katey has been moved to 5pm on Wednesdays effective IMMEDIATELY.  So again, tomorrow's yoga class will now be BEFORE bootcamp at 5pm.  Hope to see you there!

2. The water fountain was fixed this weekend by our very own MacGyver and club trainer, Katey! I'm beginning to think Katey can do anything.  She even figured out how to unlock the men's bathroom door yesterday that somehow got locked from the inside out (really guys?  what are you doing in there? LOL).

3. As much as I love the quiet mornings at the club when I train myself, I would like to promote use of the club in the early mornings.  We have showers and plenty of cardio equipment just waiting for YOU. Best part -- workout is DONE and OVER WITH early so you can just carry on with the day.  SOOOOO - anyone that comes in from 6am to 10am a minimum of 10 times per month will get 10% off their dues in the following month!

4.  The Meat House Menu launches on May 10th (copy of menu attached)!!!  Sorry to Snap Head Trainer Brian for calling the Meat House and ordering the "Back Day Burger Wrap" yesterday only for the person on the phone to say "Um. Do you know you called The Meat House?"  LOL!  Matt and Rich at The Meat House just need a little time to get all the employees on board so thank you for your patience.

5.  Thank you to the person that left me feedback looking for more male dominated magazines.  I left a Car and Driver magazine along with some Travel, and Travel & Leisure magazines for you.  Your feedback is always welcome.

6. The latest issue of Natural Nutmeg hit the newsstands today with my recipe article for "chicken tacos with romaine shells!"  Copies are at the club.  Attached is a photo collage Jessica made :)

7.  Lastly - check out the incredible 8 week transformation by our club member Mike Russo -- 58 years young and NO CHANGE to his workouts...ONLY nutrition (photo attached).  I can't stress how important nutrition is - how nutrition IS the MAGIC in all this - and how it doesn't have to be difficult.  I'm happy to meet with every one of you to get you started on your own life change.

All for this week --- hope you are ROCKING your week and I look forward to seeing you at the club!!

....and remember- I'm always listening.

Brian's Video of the Week - April 12, 2012

So here we have Brian working with Arlene on a super killer core regimen.  I'm only giving you a little tid-bit right now, as I haven't had a chance to turn it into a brutal core compilation yet.  However, once I do, you know where to find it (YOUTUBE! www.youtube.com/SnapFitnessAvon)!

So in this clip, Brian is having Arlene complete a single-arm row on the TRX.  It's a difficult exercise, when you have to keep your core tight, back flat, elbow tucked close to your side, and try not to rotate your torso.  You can see (and probably hear) Brian giving Arlene encouragement and changing the angle that she's working at.  On the TRX, the further out that you walk your legs, the harder the exercise will be, as you're holding up more of your body weight.  So, I'd say Arlene is quite successful in this.  Watch that torso- she has very little twisting of the side opposite the working arm.  Go Arlene!

Brian's Workout of the Week - April 5, 2012

It's so hard to post these once per week.  I want to post one every day!!!  I have so much fun filming these and editing the videos... it's silly, really.  I cannot believe that people ACTUALLY get PAID to do these (though I am sure that theirs are of a much higher quality)!

So anyways, this video is a circuit that Brian put together for Zach to complete in under 45 minutes.  It includes the Deadlift bar with two 45-pound plates on it, the small plyometric platform, walking lunges, an INSANE setting on one of the stationary bikes, and body weight squats.  Based on the look on Zach's face, it wasn't a fun time for him.  This circuit was set-up to test Zach's overall fitness and endurance.  I apologize that the photo of Brian's list and the phone is blurry, but at least I've spelled it out for you here!  Let's hope for Zach's sake that he finished under the 45-minute marker that Brian gave him!

1. Stationary Bike
2. Step-Ups on Plyo Platforms
3. Platform Jumps
4. Dead Lifts
5. Walking Lunges

Personal Training Success Story: Ethan Brackett

Personal Trainer: Brian Szmigiel

For years I have contemplated working out but could never find the personal drive.  Family and friends were advocating the gym and physical fitness to me.  Constantly hearing my brother and his friends discussing weight training was what got me to seriously consider hitting the gym for the first time in a few years.

Brian approached me after a workout to ask how the lifting felt, and he asked me about my goals.  Just from that brief conversation I knew Brian knew his stuff.  His physique helped to further convince me that I was in good hands.

Now two months in, I feel and look better than ever before.  People comment on how much my figure has changed.  With results and a new healthy lifestyle, my life has completely changed.  I owe it all to Brian.  He knows his stuff and above all else, he’s a real cool guy.  You’re the man!!.

Ethan at the Club, post-workout!
